In most cases, solid hardwood should be nailed down.  It can however, be glued if it is the proper thickness.  We highly recommend that a professional contractor is used.  Engineered flooring can be glued, floated or nailed.  Engineered boards are much easier to install and is a great project for the do it yourselfer in the house.
