The beautiful mystery of Persian rugs

Persian rugs have been around for over 2,500 years and the Iranians were among the first carpet weavers.  Honing their skills over time, they make some of the most beautiful, handcrafted works of art known to man.  Persian rugs offer bright colors and intricate designs making them distinctive and breathtaking.

The key to making Persian rugs is the manufacturing of the dyes which has remained a family secret being passed down from generation to generation.  The dyes were made from substances including barks, roots, plants, bugs and anything else they felt would add to the colors.

Persian rugs are made from 100% wool and are spun by hand.  Before being spun, the wool is dipped in vats of dye and hung to dry without being squeezed.  The wool was then dried in the sun.  Once dried, it was used to create rugs that are known around the world.
