Terrazzo flooring once popular in the 1950's is making a huge comeback and her's why

Terrazzo flooring becaming popular from the 1950's right up until the 70's in Florida.  Many people installed Terrazzo flooring because it looked great, was fairly inexpensive, was easy to care for and it durability.  Terrazzo flooring is quite decorative as it takes on a mosaic look because of the small, polished pieces of marble layed in mortar.

Terrazzo flooring is basically one part cement and two parts marble.  When installing the flooring, additional chips are spread on the surface so that over 70% of the surface comprises of marble.  This gives the surface a shiny, smooth look.  Many people installed this flooring in their entrances, bathrooms and laundry rooms.  It is an excellent choice for high traffic areas because of it durability.

Terrazzo flooring is gaining popularity because of its beauty and practicality.  The marble surface is non-absorbent so staining it is nearly impossible.  The cement that holds the marble in place is porous and will stain.  That is why it is important to research out other types of epoxy or resins you can use if you are afraid of stains.
